Summer is near!

The first Lesser Black Backed Gull of the season has arrived on Lossie Estuary.  An absolutely stunning day weatherwise and a very enjoyable workshop.

Also nice to see was the Sanderling that tippy toe fed all the way up the river.  Called in at the feeding station but yet again no Crested Tits. Oh well just means I have to go back!!

Next teaser!

So what am I?

Merkinch LNR Inverness

For the answer to the last quiz, the tail belonged to a Long tailed Tit, I've never noticed this pattern before even when they were in the hand, but that was a few years ago. Cracking wee birdies.

Took a trip to Merkinch LNR in Inverness as a recce to start some Birdwatching for Beginners workshops in Inverness.

Very impressed with this small reserve and can see great potential for some very interesting birds, all surrounded by scenery that is just outstanding.

Looking forward to see if the April advertising in "highland Life" magazine pays off and I can get some workshops started here, perfect for classes with a good range of habitat and birds.

All quiet.

Beautiful morning workshop today.

Nice flock of 25 Bar tailed Godwits on the West side of Burghead, a Shag and Grey seal in the harbour being the highlights.

Very good numbers of Long Tailed Ducks on both sides of Burghead and Red and Black Throated Divers off the point.  Very few Eiders and Scoters.
