A work colleague took this fishy pic on the beach at Nairn on 17 Jan 2013. Anyone put an ID to it? He said it also had a small row of teeth.
Hopefully the heavy snow forecast will not get this far North, but getting my emergency kit sorted out just in case!

Looks a bit like a piranha but in fact is a sea bream
ReplyDeleteLooks like a Pompano (Jack) of the Trachinotus genus. A warm water genus, far from home at Nairn.
ReplyDeleteIts a Ray's Bream one I woould love to find. Google it! Turns up in winter storms a few were caught alive during the harsh winters in 2010.
