Two Red Squirrels kept us highly amused with there feeding antics.
Good numbers of Wigeon on the estuary along with Goldeneye and Teal.
On the way home we called in at the newly refurbished "Captains Table" and had, by now the traditional, "Bacon and Egg roll" with lashings of tea, whilst watching Red Breasted Mergansers feeding just offshore. An excellent way to end the day!

Finally the next quiz picture...... what is this?
Its a Long tailed Tit!
ReplyDeleteI've spent many happy hours sitting in Mick's feeding station. No Cresties when I was there last week either, but will try again this am. Fortunately, this staion has not been trashed like the last one. hopefully it will stay this way.
ReplyDeleteI will have to do some research before I could have a guess at the competition this time. I have an idea but it needs checking.
Well done Stewart you win again!
ReplyDeleteWent down to Mick's station this afternoon and did manage to get a Crestie, had to wait a bit mind. Also Robin, Dunnock, Blackbird, Wood Pigeon along with Gold Crest and Tree Creeper.
ReplyDeleteIs it the underside of the tail? None of my books show the tail to be other than black with white down the sides but some videos I have show different markings, similar to the one in the quiz on the underside.
ReplyDeleteYes John it is indeed the underside of the tail, and a pattern I have never really noticed until I looked on the pictures I had taken.
